1. Policy & Purpose
The College designs, delivers, and continuously improves its instructional programs to fulfill the College’s mission and Guiding Principles. As a publicly supported, comprehensive center for learning, the College is dedicated to providing high-quality, lifelong learning opportunities to meet the needs of an evolving society.
In fulfilling its mission, the College is committed to the following instructional objectives:
- Provide Transformative Learning Opportunities:
- Support students in developing, challenging, and enriching their values, beliefs, and knowledge through a variety of opportunities for academic, personal, and professional growth.
- Deliver Excellence in Teaching Across Program Areas:
- General Education: Offer robust general education programs that cultivate critical thinking, communication, quantitative reasoning, and civic responsibility.
- Transfer Programs: Provide associate degree and pre-baccalaureate pathways that prepare students for seamless transfer to four-year colleges and universities, ensuring alignment to the best of the college’s ability.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Programs: Deliver applied baccalaureate programs that build on associate degrees and industry experience to develop advanced skills. These programs prepare graduates for career advancement and workforce leadership roles in high-demand fields.
- Career and Technical Education (CTE): Provide occupational, technical, and workforce-aligned programs that prepare students for employment, career advancement, or skill enhancement.
- Workforce Training, Continuing Education, and Community Service: Deliver non-credit and lifelong learning programs that allow individuals to broaden their interests, acquire new competencies, and meet community and employer needs.
- Basic Skills and Developmental Education: Offer foundational instruction to help learners strengthen essential academic and workplace skills necessary for success in college-level courses or the workforce.
- Ensure Access, Equity, and Student Success:
- Design and deliver inclusive, accessible programs that meet the varied needs of all learners and promote student achievement, retention, and completion.
- Provide Comprehensive Academic and Student Support Services:
- Offer quality academic advising, tutoring, library, and support services to enable students to meet their educational and career goals.
- Serve as a Community and Workforce Resource:
- Act as a partner and resource for local businesses, industries, government entities, schools, and community organizations to promote economic development and regional vitality.
- Commit to Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Engage in ongoing assessment and evaluation of instructional programs to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with the College’s mission, community needs, and accreditation standards.
