Good People. Good Students. Good Athletes.

Western is the perfect choice for athletes, whether your passion is basketball, volleyball, soccer or wrestling. The Athletics Department at Western cultivates good people, good students and good athletes - in that order. Mustang Athletics emphasizes teamwork, grit, and determination.

Students involved with athletics at Western consistently earn an average 3.0 GPA. In the 2018-19 school year, 35 athletes individually earned NJCAA academic national honors with a 3.6 or higher. Five of six Western teams have been recognized nationally - another reason Western was ranked third best community college in the U.S..

Even if spots on Western's teams are full, students can still be involved with athletics. Western offers on-campus jobs like, filming home games, helping broadcast home games, doing statistical work, working at concessions for home games and more. There are also opportunities to be a student manager or student trainer.

Intramural sports at Western such as water polo, co-ed softball, men's and women's basketball and volleyball, tennis and ultimate Frisbee also builds a positive campus experience for students. Students foster friendships while staying fit.

Athletic scholarships are available to incoming students and may be offered as the student moves on to a four-year institution. Over a dozen athletes move on and compete at the four year level every year.
