Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Western Wyoming Community College Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee believes in the importance of seeing things from multiple perspectives. We work to reflect and support the diverse campus and area communities we serve. We are invested in cultivating a climate where equity and inclusion are both intrinsic and explicit by valuing individuals and groups of all backgrounds, demographics, and experiences. In doing so, we foster an atmosphere of diversity, equity, and inclusion for our students, our employees and our community.
To better reflect the communities we serve, Western's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee works to break down barriers to inclusion, influence policies to foster equity, increase both awareness and presence of diversity, and empower underrepresented members of our community. We seek to heighten awareness of DEI issues throughout campus at all levels; further, we work to partner with and assist those seeking improvement in these areas.
If you are interested in serving as a student representative on this committee or would like to speak about an issue regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion please reach out to a committee member.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion have designated the following months to recognize and celebrate diversity at Western through events, library guides, and displays.
New Update:
Western Wyoming Community College Campus Civility Committee
At Western, we believe in the power of respectful dialogue, mutual understanding,
and creating a welcoming environment for all. The Campus Civility Committee is committed
to fostering a culture where all individuals—students, employees, and community members—feel
valued, heard, and respected. We strive to promote awareness, empathy, and engagement
across our campus by encouraging thoughtful conversations and meaningful connections
across all backgrounds and experiences.
Our committee works to identify and remove barriers that hinder inclusivity, advocate for equitable practices, and support a community where everyone belongs. We recognize that civil discourse and inclusion go hand in hand, and we are dedicated to cultivating an atmosphere of trust, respect, and shared responsibility.
Through collaborative efforts, we aim to:
- Encourage respectful dialogue and promote understanding across differences
- Support policies and practices that reflect equity and fairness
- Amplify underrepresented voices and perspectives
- Partner with campus and community members to create a more inclusive environment
