Wesley Padilla is ready to start year four at the helm of the Western Wyoming Women’s Basketball Program and is excited to have a big year. Padilla looks to continue to build a successful, competitive program. The Lady Mustangs earned many accolades on and off the court last season including: a 24-win season, runner-up in the Region 9 tournament, four players named to the NJCAA all-academic team, an NJCAA academic team award, three all-region players, four all-tournament team players, four players moved on to the four-year level, and most importantly, five graduated sophomores.
The Lady Mustangs return 6 sophomores and 2 redshirts who produced the first 20-win season at Western Wyoming since 2016-2017. “I feel that we have one of the most experienced and talented teams in Region 9. We hope to continue to build on the foundation we have set over the last three years. The incoming freshmen and transfers we added are extremely talented and will be vital to our success. We hope to play mature, take great team shots, and guard 40+ minutes at a high level,” said Padilla.
Returners include all-region/all-tournament team player Austyn Feller (Saratoga Springs, UT), Cami King (West Point, UT), Jordyn Luna (Maui, HI), Lilly Evans (Pleasant Grove, UT), all-tournament team player Kaylee Hess (South Weber, UT), and Kiana Manuel (Maui, HI). Freshman redshirts excited to make their debut this season include Ella Stanton (Green River, WY) and Jenna Sterzer (Taylorsville, UT). Also returning to the sidelines for his fourth season with the program is Assistant Coach, Elijah Archuleta.
