Spring Semester Scheduling Update

Western Wyoming Community College students in rock climbing class

Western Wyoming Community College’s student services will be open in the Spring semester starting January 6th, 2021, with the academic semester beginning Monday, January 25.

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the first three weeks of the semester will be conducted virtually for the majority of courses. Students will begin in-person lecture and lab work starting on Monday, February 15, 2021.

The College is taking necessary precautions to ensure that students, and employees are safe and healthy after traveling and gathering for the holidays and before returning to campus. State Health officials see January and February as critical months for possible high rates of infection.

Western saw success in mitigating COVID-19 infections on campus for most of the Fall semester by implementing face covering requirements and social distancing practices in the classroom and around campus. Based on information from health officials and contact tracing, not one case derived from a classroom. The College credits a great deal of this success to faculty enforcing face coverings and taking extra precautions in lab settings.

These precautions allowed the College to stay open for in-person instruction, unlike many other colleges and universities. It is the goal of Western to remain open for in-person instruction through the Spring semester as well.
