The Western Wyoming Community College Art Gallery, as part of "Preliminaries," a semi-annual Art students' show, honored students by selecting and accepting their work into the public collection of the College. The awards were announced at the show's opening reception on May 5th, 2017.
The Purchase Awards allow the student to receive acknowledgement of their semester's success while building the College's collection of works. The areas of Western participating in these selections were Student Learning, Student Services, Administrative Services, and the College President's office.
Recognized were Cassy Johnston of Rock Springs by Dr. Cliff Wittstruck II, Sondra Billman of Evanston by Dr. Kimberly Farley, Kamden Carroll of Green River by Sheldon Flom, Ashley Miller of Star Valley by Dr. Phillip Parnell, and Sondra Billman of Evanston by Dr. Karla Leach.
"Preliminaries" presents the work of the campus Art credit classes from the Spring 2017 semester. It will continue through August 16, 2017 and is open to the public.
Courses included in the Spring semester are Photo I, Design: Color, Drawing II, Painting II, Design: 3D, all levels of Ceramic instruction, and a Gum Bichromate Photo workshop. The art foundation, which these course fall within, prepares Western's students for advancement in the arts in all fields both applied and fine arts.
