Deadline to register for Mon. and Wed. evening classes extended until Thursday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m.

January 19, 2016

There is still time
There is still time to register for Monday and Wednesday evening classes at Western!

Western students who still would like to add a class to their schedules, or prospective students who would like to begin working toward their degree through the Western After Hours evening course program, still have a chance to add some classes that meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings, thanks to last week's campus power outage.

Western's Registrar's Office, which is part of the campus's Mustang Central Student Success Center, announced today that the deadline to add courses that meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings has been extended until this Thursday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. The extension is related to last Wednesday's campus power outage, which resulted in afternoon and evening classes being cancelled on the first day of class. Consequently, classes that meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings or just on Wednesday evenings have not yet met this semester, so students who wish to add those courses still have time to do so.

This extension applies only to classes that meet on Wednesdays or Mondays and Wednesdays at or after 5:30 p.m. at the Rock Springs campus. The drop/add period for all other course sections, including evening classes at the Green River Center, which did meet last week, has closed.

Classes that remain available for enrollment include:

Sociological Principles (SOC 1000), which meets every Wednesday from 7 – 9:50 p.m. This class fulfills a Social Science requirement and provides students with foundational knowledge of the study of people, groups and societies.

Criminology (CRMJ 2400), which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 13 and concluding March 4. This class focuses on the fundamentals of criminal behavior and criminal justice, and it satisfied a Social Science credit.

English Composition I (ENGL 1010), which is offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. This fulfills a Humanities requirement and provides the writing foundation that is essential for college students' academic success.

Beginning Algebra (MATH 0920), which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. This course provides essential instruction in algebra that prepares students to move into higher-level mathematics courses and eventually into college math.

Intermediate Algebra (MATH 930), which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 - 8:15 p.m. This course builds on the knowledge gained in Beginning Algebra and prepares students for success in the classes that follow.

Trigonometry (MATH 1405), which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 - 8:15 p.m. This is a college-level trigonometry course that satisfies a Mathematics requirement.
