Enrollment in evening courses at Western increased 25 percent in Fall 2015 with the introduction of Western After Hours.

ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Community College has reported a 25 percent increase in evening course enrollment for Fall 2015 following implementation of Western After Hours, a program supported by Sweetwater BOCES and designed to provide more face-to-face evening courses for students who cannot attend daytime classes. The nighttime course schedule, which allows students to complete all of their General Education course requirements in two years while taking only evening courses, will continue in Spring 2016.

The After Hours program offers many General Education classes at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for the convenience of working students.Along with convenient class times, Western After Hours provides extended hours for campus services, including the Children’s Center, the T-Rex Grill, the WWCC Bookstore, and the Peer Tutor Center.

The evening course schedule is set up to allow students to take as many as four classes per semester, though many students opt to take two classes on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some evening classes are offered outside of the 5:30 and 7 p.m. format, including science labs.

General Education courses are those classes that all students must complete for an associate’s degree regardless of what major they pursue. Those classes include English composition, communication, social science, and American and Wyoming government, among others.

The following services are available to Western After Hours students:

Children’s Center (open 15 minutes after the conclusion of the last class each evening)

T-Rex Grill (open weeknights till 7 p.m.)

WWCC Bookstore (open Mondays and Thursdays till 7 p.m.)
