ROCK SPRINGS — For those who enjoy the art of dance and would like to know more about how individual pieces and programs performed by Western Wyoming Community College’s Desert Dance Theatre are created and choreographed, the program “Movement Speaks: Conversations About Dance,” scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. in Room 3654, will open up that process. This event is free and open to the community.
Western Dance Faculty Britta Joy Peterson will join several of her students in opening up their dance laboratory and sharing the movement generators and experiments that lead to finished pieces. Those completed works will be performed at the Desert Dance Theatre Spring Concert on April 21 – 23, 2016.
Saturday’s program will offer a glimpse of that forthcoming concert. Peterson is conducting a residency this week with students Gabriela Cipili, Katherine Riedl and Brooke Whitby, and on Saturday they will perform a work-in-progress as part of a conversation about the art of movement and personal expression.
Western and the Performing Arts Department are proud to invite the campus and community to this behind-the-scenes look at the practice and creation of dance. For more information, contact Peterson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
