Western’s Office Information Systems classes strengthen software, digital publishing skills for employees

The Digital Publishing Technologies Certificate at Western will give students a creative and professional edge.

ROCK SPRINGS – For students or professionals who are looking to gain an edge in the digital world, the Division of Technology and Industry at Western Wyoming Community College offers a variety of software and web and digital design courses that will sharpen existing software skills and teach new strategies for designing compelling digital communications. Whether students just need brush-up classes on specific software programs or a more comprehensive certificate program to advance their career goals, Western’s Office Information Systems department provides high-quality instruction by knowledgeable faculty to help them succeed in today’s digital marketplace.    

Those who take Word, Excel, Photoshop or other software classes will learn both the fundamentals and the latest elements of these essential programs. Students in the Digital Design classes will also learn the basics and current best practices of layout and design and will utilize these skills in a variety of creative class projects.   

Software classes offered during Fall 2015 include: Word 2013; Excel 2013; Digital Page Layout Design - InDesign Creative Cloud; Digital Illustration Design - Illustrator Creative Cloud; Integrated Applications - Office 2013; Computer Graphics -  Photoshop Creative Cloud; and Presentation Graphics - PowerPoint 2013. Other classes include Computer Information Systems and Integrated Applications, which gives the student a complete overview of Microsoft Office 2013. The 20-credit Digital Design Technologies Certificate introduces students to a broad range of design programs and functions and gives them a basic proficiency in web development. Other OIS certificate and degree programs include: Associate of Applied Science Degree in Office Information Systems; Associate of Applied Science Degree with Emphasis in Medical Office Assistant; 40-Hour Medical Office Assistant Certificate; and the One-Year Administrative Assistant Certificate.
