ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Community College extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former instructor Joan Marie Barker, who passed away on May 24, 2015 after a long illness. Mrs. Barker taught at Western for five years following a 25-year teaching career with Sweetwater County School District #2. She retired in 2010.
"Joan was the classic faculty person who does what needs to be done to provide a quality education for her students with minimal fuss," said WWCC Vice President for Student Success Services Jackie Freeze. "She was a dedicated supporter of student learning and a lifelong learner herself. She remained interested in Western's progress long after her retirement. We will miss her."
The family of Joan Marie Barker respectfully suggests that donations in her memory be made to Rocky Mountain Bank, 2515 Foothill Blvd., Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901. The donations will be used for sleeping recliners for families that are experiencing comfort care at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
