ROCK SPRINGS – The Western Wyoming Community College Performing Arts Department will present eight musical programs at venues throughout Sweetwater County during the next few weeks as part of its annual spring concert lineup.
This year’s programs include four performances by the combined Rock Springs and Green River Community Chorales, which will perform “Fauré’s Requiem,” a choral-orchestral arrangement for the Roman Catholic Mass of the Dead. These performances follow up the two choral groups’ successful collaboration on “Handel’s Messiah” in December 2014.
“Requiem” performances are scheduled for: Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at Saint Cyril & Methodius (SCM) Catholic Church in Rock Springs; Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at Holy Communion Episcopal Church in Rock Springs; Thursday, May 7, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River; and Friday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Green River Senior Center.
Other scheduled concerts include: a BOCES Orchestra Concert on Sunday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at the WWCC Atrium; a “Swing Night with the Jazz Band” dinner and dancing event at the Santa Fe Southwest Grill on Saturday, May 2, at 7 p.m.; a Family Pops Concert on Monday, May 4, at 7 p.m. in the WWCC Theatre; and “You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow – A Night of Sondheim Songs” on Friday, May 8, at 5 p.m. in the WWCC Theatre.
All of these concerts are free and open to the public except for the “Swing Night with the Jazz Band.” Tickets for that event are $25 each and may be purchased by contacting the Performing Arts Office at (307) 382-1721. There are a limited number of tickets for this event. Santa Fe Southwest Grill is located at 1635 Elk Street in Rock Springs.
