WWCC Community Education offers class on rock and mineral collecting beginning Feb. 24

Learn how to classify and display rock samples with a class from Western's Community Ed program

ROCK SPRINGS – The Community Education Program at Western Wyoming Community College will offer a Rock and Mineral Collecting class beginning Tuesday, Feb. 24, on the Rock Springs campus. Participants will learn how to organize and display their rock and mineral collections and how to identify and explain their rock and mineral samples to others. The class meets each Tuesday for five weeks from 6 – 7:30 p.m..

Topics covered in the class include: Labeling; Cleaning; Displaying; Curating; Valuing; and related information. Each week, rock and mineral samples will be provided to class members for them to label and keep. This is an excellent class for experienced rock collectors and for those who are new to the hobby or who would like to start.

The Rock and Mineral Collecting class is taught by Keith Hayes and will be held in Room 1212 on the Rock Springs campus. The cost is $83; seniors pay only $30.
