College & University Proctoring:

Valley Learning Center proctors tests for most colleges and universities in the region. We are set up to proctor tests for: the University of Wyoming, Western Wyoming Community College, Laramie County Community College, Utah State University, Weber State University, Brigham Young University and Western Governors University. We also proctor tests for other colleges and universities as needed. Many college tests are Internet based and the Valley Learning Center has computers set up in our testing rooms.

It is the student's responsibility to make arrangements with their college or university to have the Valley Learning Center be their proctoring institution. The student must make an appointment with Valley Learning Center for the time they will be taking their test.

Testing at the Valley Learning Center is done in controlled testing rooms with constant video surveillance. Students must present legal picture identification when they check in for testing as required by their institutions. Personal belongings, including electronic devices are not allowed inside of the testing rooms.

For more information about College and University proctoring and scheduling at the Valley Learning Center please contact Susan Hissong at (307) 782-6401, ext. 100, or shissong@westernwyoming.edu.

High School Equivalency Testing:

What are the High School Equivalency Tests? The State of Wyoming uses the GED Test and the HiSet test by ETS to determine eligibility for earning the Wyoming Certificate of High School Equivalency. The tests measure a person's knowledge and academic skills against those of today's traditional high school graduates. Each year more than 860,000 adults worldwide take HSEC tests to earn their Certificates of High School Equivalency- to help them obtain a better job, continue their education, or for personal fulfillment.

More than 96% of U.S. employers consider state Certificates of High School Equivalency the same as traditional high school graduates in regard to hiring, salary, and opportunity for advancement. Also, 95% of U.S. colleges and universities accept students with Certificates of High School Equivalency who meet their other qualifications for admission.

The tests cover a wide range of topics and consists of five different sections: Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.

Test Preparation: Although not a requirement, it is to your advantage to register with Valley Learning Center's College and Career Readiness Center and complete Official Practice Tests and test preparation. The College and Career Readiness Center will help you determine when you are ready to take the tests. They provide instruction and directed study to help you prepare. There is no cost for test preparation at Valley Learning Center. For more information, see Adult Basic Education.
