Green River, Wyoming native Art Castillo begins his 10th season as the head coach of the Mustangs and 13th year in coaching overall. Castillo has coached four National Champions, 34 All Americans, including four two-time All Americans and the 2018 NJCAA Outstanding Wrestler, Ken Astle. In his time as a coach, Castillo has been instrumental in leading the Mustangs to two academic National Championships (2005-06, 2009-10). Castillo was voted the 2015 West District Coach of the Year and the 2018 Rocky Mountain District Coach of the Year. In 2018 Castillo led the Mustangs to their first ever District Championship and the best national finish in school history with five All Americans. Coach Castillo is a 1997 Graduate of Green River High School where he was a two time state placer and as a team captain helped lead his team to three Wyoming 4A State Championships.

Upon graduation, Castillo attended Northwest College, where he was a National Qualifier. After his time at Northwest, Coach Castillo transferred to Dana College, where he was also a team captain and two time national qualifier and two time GPAC champion. Castillo served as an assistant coach while finishing his undergraduate degree at Dana. Castillo graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Sports Management and earned his Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. In his free time Castillo likes to golf, travel, and spend time with his wife, Jess.

Rick Yoak Rick Yoak
Assistant Wrestling Coach

Rick Yoak, from Green River, Wyoming is back, this time as a Mustang! Coach Yoak was the head assistant under Coach Steve Christensen from 1999-2003, when they we were the Spartans. The former 2X Wyoming state champion, and NJCAA national runner-up, brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and character to the Mustang coaching staff and Coach Castillo is delighted to have Yoak around. "To have a guy like Rick Yoak want to be a part of your staff is huge for everybody involved. Rick is not only one of the toughest guys I can think of but also one of the classiest. I remember as a kid watching Yoak wrestle for the powerhouse Wolves, watching him compete helped build my love for the sport. I am honored to work with him and excited about the impact he will have with our student-athletes physically, emotionally and spiritually." Coach Yoak resides in Green River and has been married to his wife Shelley for 25 years. They have two daughters, Megan, 18, and Madison, 14.

Dillon Karajanis Dillon Karajanis
Assistant Wrestling Coach

From Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dillon Karajanis enters his second season as assistant coach for the Mustangs. He earned All-American honors in 2013 here at Western under Coach Castillo and was a member of the 2013 team that placed 8th in the country. Karajanis graduated with a degree of Associates of Arts with an emphasis in Education. After his time at Western, Dillon transferred to CSU-Pueblo where he completed his wrestling career and earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, with an emphasis in Physical Education K-12. Professionally, he is a physical education teacher for Sweetwater County School District #1. In his free time, Dillon enjoys fishing whenever he gets a chance and being outdoors.

"I am extremely excited to bring Dillon to our staff and back to the community," Coach Castillo said. "Dillon had an outstanding academic and athletic career and I am certain as a professional he will continue pursuing excellence."

Bill Hodges Bill Hodges
Assistant Wrestling Coach

Bill Hodges makes his return to Western, this time as an assistant coach. Hodges was the head coach of the then WWCC Spartans from 2002-06. During that time, he led WWCC to a 4th place finish in 2006 with 77.5 team points which included three All Americans and one national champion (Cody Eardley). Hodges also recruited and coached WWCC's first national champ, Mike Casperson, in 2005.

Hodges, a longtime Green River native, recently retired from teaching and coaching at Green River High School in Green River, WY, where he taught history for over 30 years. In his 19 year coaching career, Hodges led his teams to 9 State Championships including 48 individual State Champions. Hodges coached current head coach Art Castillo and current assistant Rick Yoak during their high school careers.

Coach Hodges was a state champion for Green River High School and then went to the University of Wyoming, where he was a WAC champion.

"I am thrilled that coach Hodges is back at Western!" Coach Castillo said. "Hodges was my high school coach, freestyle/greco coach, and gave me my first shot at coaching when he brought me on as an assistant. Hodges has done so much for me as a wrestler and professional and for so many in this community. Our athletes are lucky to have him as their coach and mentor. He will make a huge impact on our team with his wealth of knowledge and love for teaching and coaching."
