Information for Incoming Students

Welcome to Western Wyoming Community College! We are so happy you have chosen Western as your next step and we are excited to help you navigate through your academic path. If you are a new student and would like more information on how to register for full or part-time courses, please see new student information below. If you are a previous Western student and are seeking assistance to register for classes, please scroll down to returning students. If you are transferring to Western from another institution, please refer to the bottom of this page for more information.

New Students:
Please be sure to consult the Admissions and Financial Aid Checklist and ensure you have completed all necessary preliminary steps prior to registering for classes.

All new students will need to take the McCann and ALEKS placement tests prior to setting up an Individual Advising Appointment. Placement testing is designed to determine the student's level of ability. They are not pass/fail exams. We aim to place the student in the course best-suited to meet their particular skills. In some cases, developmental courses are required before students may enter college-level courses. For more information about placement testing, please see our Testing information.

The Green River Center and WWCC Outreach offices also offer the McCann and ALEKS placement tests. Please contact each location directly for more information.

Online Orientation and Navigate:
Prior to setting up an Individual Advising Appointment, all new first-time freshmen must complete the online orientation and Navigate. Use the account information located on your acceptance letter to log in to Mustang Cruiser. Once logged in, locate the Navigate tab at the top and begin going through your onboarding process to Western. While working through Navigate, you will also be directed to complete WWCC's Online Orientation. The online orientation takes about a half hour to complete. You can return to the online orientation at any time to refer to information you may want to re-learn or remember. Once you have progressed through the modules and completed the quiz with an 86% or higher, you may call the ACE IT Center to schedule your Individual Advising Appointment.

Individual Advising Appointment:
Students will sit down with an academic advisor on campus to discuss academic programs available at Western, develop an academic plan, and select courses for the upcoming semester. Students who wish to participate in an individual advising appointment can contact the ACE IT Center for more information.

Returning Students:
If you have attended Western previously and would like to register for full or part-time classes, please consult the Admissions and Financial Aid Checklist to ensure you have completed all necessary preliminary steps prior to registering for classes.

Once you receive your acceptance letter, please contact the ACE IT Center at 307-382-1660 or aceit@westernwyoming.edu to schedule an advising appointment.

Transfer Students:
Students must submit official copies of all transcripts from each institution attended.

Students who are transferring to Western Wyoming Community College should consult the Admissions and Financial Aid Checklist to ensure all necessary preliminary steps have been completed prior to registering for classes.

Transcripts evaluations are completed for students who are accepted for admission. Walk-ins or late applicants will not be evaluated until after the add period is over. Once a student submits an official transcript to Western it becomes the property of the College and will not be released to a third party.

Only 50 credit hours may be applied toward a Western degree or certification. A minimum of 15 credit hours of the degree program MUST be completed through Western.

GPA does not transfer or add into the Western cumulative. Western does not accept religion courses. Students transferring U.S. Government courses from out-of-state will still be required to complete the Wyoming government requirements for graduation.

Once you receive your acceptance letter, please contact the ACE IT Center at 307-382-1660 or aceit@westernwyoming.edu to schedule an advising appointment.
