Academic Advising

At Western, we believe that advising is teaching. We strive to empower you to have the necessary information to achieve your educational and career goals. Advisors can help clarify institutional policies and procedures, refer you to resources, and keep an eye on your progress.

All degree-seeking students are assigned an advisor during an Individual Advising Appointment in Mustang Central or at one of our Outreach offices. First-time students are advised by a Student Success Coach and then transferred to a faculty advisor in their program area for the rest of their time at Western. Using your advisor is a valuable service provided, but it is still your responsibility to make decisions and be responsible for your academic career.
