Do you enjoy helping people? If so, social work could be the career for you! Social workers help clients handle everyday life problems. Social workers provide the link between organized social services and individuals and families unable to provide for themselves or needing assistance in problem solving. They help people solve and cope with problems in their everyday lives. Clinical social workers also diagnose and treat mental, behavioral, and emotional issues.
The Associate of Arts in Social Work principally prepares students for upper-division education in social work. Potential employers include hospitals, mental health centers, rehabilitation centers, government agencies, schools and correctional institutions. This is a pathway program. An advisor will work with you to determine which elective courses will lay the best foundation for your selected major and continued studies.
