Secondary Education, Science

Earning a science education degree will prepare you for a rewarding career teaching science courses to middle school and high school students; usually grades 7-12. Science teachers must choose a specific field in which to focus. It is not common to earn a degree that allows teachers to teach any science. Future teachers looking to go into this profession should be prepared to choose a focus such as biology, or chemistry, or physics, etc. Science teachers play an important role in the educational development of students focusing on the ability to problem solve, think critically, and to better understand the natural world. The ideal candidate for this profession will be patient, service oriented, with good communication skills and an ability to encourage others. The job requires dependability, integrity, and adaptability. Many schools offer a science education degree online which can allow a student to study on their own time and at their own pace, often while maintaining regular employment.
