Generally speaking we recommend the following: If you took two years or less of high school Spanish, or if it has been three years or more since you took Spanish, you should start in Spanish 1010. If you successfully completed three years of high school Spanish, you should start in Spanish 1020. However, every student is different so we encourage you to contact our faculty in Spanish to better assess your level.

If you speak Spanish at home, if you understand some Spanish from hearing it in your home, or if you have spent one year or more in a Spanish-speaking country, you should probably start in Spanish 2030 or Spanish 2040.  However, every student is different so we encourage you to contact our faculty in Spanish to better assess your level.
