A native of central Utah, Rocky J. Barney earned his B.S. in chemistry from Southern Utah University, and completed his Ph.D. work at the University of Iowa. His research at Southern
Utah University focused on surfactants and critical micelle concentration, while his research at the University of Iowa focused on the synthesis of organophosphorus compounds as
enzyme-specific inhibitors and probes of protein prenylation, development of novel C-P bond forming methodologies, and natural product synthesis. Personal interests include hiking,
reading, playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends. He's also a fan of most anything bizarre or avant-garde.
