Welding Technology FAQs

No experience is required. The program is designed for both beginners and those with some background in welding.

The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree typically takes two years (four semesters) to complete when attending full-time. Certificate options typically can be completed within a year, depending on student load.

Western’s welding lab is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This provides maximum scheduling flexibility for students.
Welding can be physically demanding. Students should be prepared for standing, bending, and lifting, and should have good hand-eye coordination and vision (with or without corrective lenses).
