There is as unique opportunity at Western for anyone with a desire to work in an industrial field. Western offers degrees and certificates in 11 different industrial areas of study. These range from automotive and diesel technology to industrial mechanics and electrical instrumentation. In fact, the industrial maintenance program at Western was named the best in Wyoming. These programs all feature the latest technology and techniques. They have the equipment and use hands-on training with the actual equipment used in each industry. Western is unique with its flexible entry classes and lab hours which allow students to come in when it is most convenient and work at their own pace.

Western has the equipment and technology that allows graduates can find placement within their chosen field before or shorty after their graduation. Western's industry partners work with the college to ensure that graduates are equipped for the workplace of today and the foreseeable future. The department fosters close ties with the corporate community that provides a wealth of practical expertise, a variety of internship opportunities and future job prospects. Many of the curriculums at Western were developed in partnership with the industries they represent, and thus provide training that meets that industry's expectations.

The Wyoming State Legislature recently approved legislation allowing junior colleges, including Western, to offer Bachelor of Applied Science programs, stemming from the Associate of Applied Science programs currently offered. In addition to the AAS degree, certificates are also available in most of the fields. Several clubs are active on campus, including two for students studying engineering; Engineering Without Borders and Engineering Science. There is also a club for adult students --Association of Non-Traditional Students or ANTS.  The group has many activities through the year

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) ensures that all eligible individuals can benefit from federally funded or federally guaranteed financial assistance for education beyond high school. Some industries also offer scholarships to those considering a particular occupation after graduation.
