The Western Wyoming Community College Men’s Basketball team is coming off a shorten season due to Covid 19 with a 16-6 record and a trip to the Semi Finals of the Region 9 Tournament. Coach Soza beings his 4th year as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the Mustangs, and has an overall record of 59-26. Through his three years he and his staff have placed eight student athletes at the four-year level and one at the professional level.

The Mustangs return a solid core who have won 46 games the past two years and a Region 9 Championship in 2020 in Dayne Prim, Trevor Trost and D’Auntray Pierce. Redshirt freshmen Lain Mitchelson, Derek Lionberger and Justis Reese have also been an extremely important part of the Mustangs recent success. Also, returning is part time starter from Seattle, Washington, Marcus Collins, who is poised for a break out season.
The Mustangs have added two transfers, Azarien Stephens (Colorado Northwest) and Chase Hettinger (Otero Junior College), who both should make an immediate impact. Also, joining the Mustangs are true freshmen Zion Ruckard (Denver, CO), LJ Armstrong, (Seattle, WA), Charlie Harris Jr, (Chicago, IL), Alan Martinez (Rock Springs, WY) and Demetrius Davenport (Rock Springs, WY)
