Approved Preceptors

Western maintains contractual agreements with close to 60 health care agencies in its various service area locations.  Within these agencies, hundreds of registered nurses serve as preceptors to Western nursing students.

Clinical sites are selected based upon type and quality of care provided.  Once a clinical site agrees to participate in the education of Western's nursing students, Western enters into a formal and ongoing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the agency.

Once a MOU with a clinical agency has been established potential preceptors are then identified by unit or agency directors.  They are vetted by the Program Director or nursing faculty and are then approved to begin precepting nursing students.  Refer to the Preceptor Manual for a list of preceptor qualifications.

A list of approved preceptors is regularly maintained and provided to students for Thier clinical planning needs.  For an Approved Preceptor list, please email nursing@westernwyoming.edu.
