Phlebotomy

The School of Health Science offers a phlebotomy course which has a mandatory clinical component. The student must be able to provide the instructor proof of meeting the clinical requirements within the first four weeks of class  See Course Catalog for course description. 

Satisfactory completion of the course entitles the student to sit for a competency examination to become nationally credentialed as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

This course is eligible for Wyoming Works.  See financial aid.

Students must meet the following clinical requirements to enroll in course.

Clinical attendance is mandatory to pass the course.

Detailed information is provided upon enrollment.

Students must provide official documentation of the following is required to attend clinical:

  • MMR, Varicella vaccines or positive titer, Hepatitis B positive titer, Tdap and Influenza immunization;
  • COVID-19 vaccination is recommended, not required. Reporting of vaccine status is required.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) skin test; and
  •  Criminal background and drug screen.
      • The criminal background and drug screen are included in course fees.

Western follows the requirements established by our clinical partners, as well as Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and recommendations for immunizations for healthcare providers.
