Western Wyoming College and University of Wyoming Launch Express Transfer Agreement

Western Wyoming College (Western) and the University of Wyoming (UW) have launched a new Express Transfer Agreement (ETA), giving Western students a clear path from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree at UW. 
 
Through the new partnership, eligible students can begin planning their transfer to UW from their first semester at Western. Students in approved ETA majors will receive advising from both institutions and a degree plan designed to keep them on track as they complete their associate degree at Western and prepare for the next step at UW. 
 
The partnership also gives students an early connection to UW. ETA students will have opportunities to connect with UW Transfer Cowboy Coaches, attend UW campus events and Western/UW Visit Days, and receive a UW student ID card, all while still attending Western. 
 
Western will introduce the ETA to eligible new students during their first semester, with a November 15 deadline to opt in. From there, Western and UW will work together to support students throughout their time at Western and help make the eventual transition between institutions as smooth as possible. 
Current Western students pursuing degrees in Accounting, Psychology, or Elementary Education can also opt into the ETA program by November 1, 2026. 
 
“By helping students understand their path to UW from the beginning, we can make sure the courses they take at Western are moving them toward both their associate degree and their long-term goals. Students can focus on succeeding here while knowing there is already a clear plan for what comes next," said Mark Rembacz, AVP of Institutional Effectiveness at Western. 
 
Western advisors will remain the primary resource for ETA students while they attend Western, with additional support from UW advisors. Students will meet virtually with a UW advisor once each semester to review their progress and make sure they remain on track for their intended degree at UW. 
As students near graduation from Western, that support will shift toward their next step. During their final semester, ETA students will be invited to UW’s Transfer Admitted Student Day, where they can meet with an advisor and plan their first semester at UW. Students who cannot attend will have the opportunity to meet virtually with their UW advisor. 
 
Students preparing to transfer will also be reviewed for eligibility for UW transfer scholarships. After graduating from Western, students will submit their official transcript to UW to finalize their admission and any scholarships or financial commitments they have earned.
