Western's Annual Haunted House Sees Record Turnout to Support Student Storehouse

November 05, 2026
Shelves in Western Wyoming College’s Student Storehouse are fully stocked and organized with canned goods, pasta, rice, soups, and other nonperishable food items.
Students and community members gathered on Western Wyoming College's (Western's) campus Saturday, October 31, for its second annual Halloween Haunted House, hosted by Student Life. The event welcomed the community for an evening of Halloween fun and frights while collecting donations to support Western's Student Storehouse.

The Haunted House offered two experiences, beginning with a kid-friendly version from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a scarier experience from 9 p.m. to midnight. Guests could pay admission or donate nonperishable food items, with all proceeds and food donations benefiting the Student Storehouse and Western students.
This year, nearly 500 people attended the Haunted House, approximately 100 more than last year. The event raised $2,037.96 and collected more than 900 pounds of food for the Student Storehouse. Monetary donations exceeded last year's total by approximately $600, while food donations remained consistent with the previous year.

"We were excited to see such a strong turnout for Western's annual Haunted House. This is a great example of what happens when our students, employees, and our community come together for a good cause. The amount of food donated to the Student Storehouse shows just how much our community cares about helping each other," said Dr. Dustin Conover, Western's Dean of Students.

The event was made possible by 48 student, employee, and community volunteers who generously contributed their time and energy to bring the Haunted House to life. From decorating and acting to guiding guests and assisting with check-in, their efforts helped make the event a success.

The Student Storehouse is located in the Student Life office, Room 1227, and is available year-round to all Western students, whether they live on or off campus. It offers free access to food, clothing, personal hygiene products, and other essentials. Students can access these items as often as needed, with no appointment necessary and no questions asked.

This year's Haunted House also offered a special treat for attendees: complimentary admission to Western's Theatre production of She Kills Monsters, adding another way to enjoy Halloween on campus.

The Student Storehouse is supported through donations and relies on events like the Haunted House and Western's annual Chili Cook-Off to help keep it stocked and available for students throughout the year.

Western extends its heartfelt thanks to the community for its incredible generosity and continued support of Western students. Whether attending the Haunted House, donating food, contributing financially, or volunteering their time, community members helped make this year's event a tremendous success. Their kindness helps ensure that students have access to essential resources when they need them most.

"We are so grateful to everyone who came out to have some fun and support our students. We are already looking forward to next year!" Conover added.
