Men's Soccer Program Statement

With a heavy heart, Western Wyoming Community College has decided to suspend the Men’s Soccer Program effective end of Spring 2020.

We are sorry that a reason cannot be given for this decision because the College is bound by FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and employee confidentiality laws. Prior to making this announcement Dr. Lu Sweet, Athletic Director, reached out to the six newly signed athletes and the eight eligible to return athletes.

The affected students and their futures are a top priority for this institution. We are currently working with Region 9 and Region 18 Athletic Directors on placing the fourteen athletes with new teams and scholarships, based on their academic and athletic goals. Should a current or new men’s soccer player choose to stay at Western, they will be given a scholarship for next year in the amount they originally signed for.

This decision does not impact any other Mustang Athletic Program. Also, Title 9 is not relevant to this decision.

Sweet will continue to connect with all impacted athletes on a weekly basis to discuss their placement, academic goals and future athletic opportunities.
