Janene Israel

Dr. Israel is Associate Professor of Psychology. She received her undergraduate degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Northern Iowa and her master’s degree in Divinity from Emory University. Her first PhD from Northcentral University is in Psychology with a specialty in prenatal, perinatal and neonatal psychology. Her second PhD from Pacifica Graduate Institute is in Depth Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on the teaching and clinical application of Freudian Psychoanalytic and Jungian Analytic psychology. Dr. Israel has had a clinical practice where her specialization was in treating complex trauma and its sequalae, of which personality disorders are significant. She has worked at a Level 4 Maximum Security Prison for women and on the famous Heart-Lung Transplant Team at Emory University Hospital, both in Georgia. She has been teaching psychology and practicing for 23 years and is new faculty here at Western. She is a classically trained pianist, an avid reader and loves to snow shoe.
