After a stressful and intense school year, summer is what every student always looks forward to. Being a college student, summer is more than just a couple months off, it’s a time to reset, reconnect with ourselves, and relax before continuing the journey of reaching your dream career.

Summer is different for everyone and that is what makes it so fun. For some, it’s going somewhere exotic, getting an opportunity for an internship, working that summer job, study abroad programs, or better yet just relaxing. It’s a time to head home, catch up on sleep, binge-watch unfinished tv show series, or spend time with family and friends. Whatever your summer looks like, summer gives us a break, to explore, reflect on your life, and to grow outside of the campus.

Summer is a great time to reflect on your thoughts and feelings. College can be fast paced, it’s easy to keep going without taking a minute and thinking about the reason behind it.  Summer gives us a chance to slow down and rewind and think about what we actually want in life. The goals that we’re working towards, what habits we want to build or maybe even stop doing and analyze ways we can take better care of ourselves moving forward. As much as being productive is essential and beneficial, there’s just as much value in simply resting and reconnecting with yourself. Whether you’re getting on top of your schooling through summer classes, working full-time, traveling, or doing nothing at all, this break is yours and you deserve it. Use it in a way that will help keep you motivated for continuing your schooling.

By the time fall comes around, we’ll be discovering new classes, new routines, and maybe even a new refreshed version of ourselves. But for now, let summer be whatever you need it to be and enjoy it to the fullest.

Make sure you are all signed up and ready to go for fall classes here at Western so you can really disconnect. If you need help on where to sign up for classes, click here.
