Why I became a Student Ambassador

Hi! My name is Joanna Crane, and I am a sophomore at Western Wyoming College. I am
majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and this is my second year being
a Student Ambassador. Outside of school, I enjoy being outdoors, riding horses, baking,
and doing different crafts. I really enjoy being involved at Western and getting to
meet new people.
I became a Student Ambassador because I wanted to be more involved at Western Wyoming
College and help other students feel comfortable and welcome on campus. When I first
came to Western, I liked how friendly and supportive everyone was, and I wanted to
be able to give that same experience to new and future students.
Being a Student Ambassador has also helped me step outside of my comfort zone. I am
naturally a little shy, so giving campus tours, talking to new people, and helping
at events has helped me become more confident. I have enjoyed learning more about
Western so I can answer questions and share what makes the college special.
One of my favorite parts of being a Student Ambassador is getting to meet students
and families who are visiting campus. Choosing a college can be exciting but also
stressful, so I like being someone they can talk to and ask questions. I enjoy showing
them around campus and helping them picture what being a student at Western could
look like.
I became a Student Ambassador because I wanted to make connections, grow as a person,
and help others feel like they belong at Western. It has been a great opportunity
for me to become more involved in my college community while also making a positive
difference for future students.
