Jennifer Salmon begins her first season at Western Wyoming Community College in 2017. Salmon
comes to Western after serving as a head coach at State University of New York Geneseo for
seven years and leading the program from a .333 to .667 winning percentage. Prior to Geneseo,
she was an assistant coach for two seasons at Cornell University, two seasons at University of
Rochester and one season at Nazareth College, gaining experience in all facets of an
intercollegiate volleyball program.
Following her reign at Geneseo, Jennifer founded JLS Empowerment LLC, a life skills education
program with the mission of cultivating integrity in today's society. She looks to utilize
this experience at Western Wyoming Community College not only with the volleyball program, but
the athletic department as a whole.
A 2002 graduate of Ithaca College, Salmon was a standout setter for the Bombers for four
seasons. On her way to four American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region
certificates, she compiled several statistical records, including school records in career
assists, service aces and single season assists.
A native of Brockport, New York, Salmon holds a Bachelor's degree in exercise science and a
Master's degree in sport psychology from Ithaca College.
Assistant Volleyball Coach
Fredann Soto is in her second season as assistant with Mustang Volleyball. Fredann has played
volleyball for 36 years, playing in her first tournament at age 8. A Rock Springs, Wyoming
native, she played at Rock Springs High School, and was named to the all-conference, and
allstate teams, along with with the Wyoming All-star team in 1991-1992. She earned honors as
best hitter with a .347 hitting percentage in her senior year at RSHS. Fredann played
collegiate volleyball at Casper College where she remains ranked #10 in a single season with
232 blocks. She has coached for 23 years at the junior high, high school, and club levels. Her
parents are WWCC alum, with her mother, Janis Collins-Hutton being a member of the very first
volleyball team at WWCC, and her father, Fred Hutton being a member of the basketball team
coached by Ken Rochlitz, at which time they were the Spartans of WWCC.
Fredann is married to Mario Soto and they have 2 children; Erikka, a Mustang sophomore, and
Alex, a Mustang freshman.
