Outdoor Recreation FAQs

Rock Springs, Wyoming is the place if you love the outdoors. Our campus is located between the Flaming Gorge National Monument and the Grand Teton National Park, in a spectacular and diverse landscape. Students will have the opportunity to explore the local landscape and travel to other states for unique recreational opportunities.

 

  • The college will provide sleeping bags, tents, tarps, stoves, fuel, water filters, course specific gear (such as rock-climbing harnesses) and more.
  • Student’s will be expected to provide their personal clothing appropriate for being in the outdoors in various weather conditions.

Graduates from Western Wyoming Community College are eligible to transfer to any 4-year institution.  Western has specific transfer agreements with many regional universities.

  • Students will obtain a NOLS Wilderness First Aid Certification, CPR Certificate, Epi-Auto Injector Certification and a Leave No Trace Certification.
