April: The Month of Hope

April is a time to smile and a time to reflect that you are almost at the finish line. The month that brings a shift in energy. The cold breeze of winter is finally beginning to fade, the campus grass starts to look greener each day, and there’s something special about hearing the birds chirping on an early morning, knowing summer is approaching. Everything feels like it’s beginning again.
It’s the month of happiness.
April is a month that of reminds us that growth takes time, and hard work may actually be a light at the end of the tunnel. Trees begin to look fuller day by day and the flowers start to look brighter. The evenings feel so much longer. The slight rain showers feel refreshing and a sign of the final stretch. Beautiful things are coming so don’t stop now.
For students, April can feel like a beautiful confusion. The end of the semester is just around the corner, but there’s still so much to get done. It’s a period of deadlines and having to make big decisions. Whether your time here at Western has come to and end or you are a freshman, just know that everyone has a destination.. but enjoy the journey. April is also a perfect opportunity to reset your energy, reflect on how far you've come and everything that you have accomplished, and realign with where you want to go after Western.
A few ideas before you reach the finish line:
- Spring clean your dorm
- Reset your goals and don’t have any regrets
- Soak in the light while having some study time
- Let go of anything that may be holding you back
The month of April is a reminder that not all progress travels in a line and that’s okay. It’s okay to feel a little behind or a little uncertain of your next steps. What matters is that you cross that finish line. You got this.
Because just like the flowers around you, you’re allowed to bloom at your own pace.
