What Makes Earth Day So Special?
We often take the Earth for granted and rarely stop to appreciate it. Earth Day reminds us to value our planet and do our part to protect it, because the Earth gives us so much and depends on us to take care of it.
The first reason is us. While we are here, we should enjoy nature and appreciate the things around us. It’s our job to make sure we don’t let this Earth die out and instead make it a better place. I always enjoy being here because of my friends and family. It’s also where I find opportunities to help others, just as we should help the Earth.
The second reason is animals because of how they help the Earth. Worms eat dead things and turn them into waste that gives nutrients back to the ground where our plants grow. Predators hunt prey because if there are too many prey animals, it can destroy the ecosystem. Bugs also kill other bugs so they don’t ruin crops. When we clean up our mess, animals have a higher survival rate and don’t die because of pollution or trash.
The third reason is the Earth itself because it gives us so much. It gives us resources so we can make our cars, games, shoes, pets, and many other things. If we take care of it, we can live here for a long time. It also helps us appreciate life and reminds us that life is beautiful. Enjoying nature and the people around us makes life special. We need to help the Earth so we can become better and so the next generation can enjoy the same things we do. What good is humanity if we can’t protect the thing that helped us? Cleaning the Earth is a great opportunity because we are protecting and helping our own species as well as other animals.
In places like Rock Springs, Wyoming, we are surrounded by nature and wildlife. Earth Day helps remind us that even in our own small community we can help protect the environment. People can do so by simply picking up trash on the side of the road, respecting wildlife, and keeping our parks and land clean so animals and plants can survive.
