Tips When Taking Online Classes

If you’re currently taking online classes or you’re thinking about taking online classes over the summer or in the fall, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Taking online classes isn’t always the easiest thing in the world and sometimes you don’t realize how hard it is to take an online class when your other classes are in person. I know I made that mistake and tried taking three online classes at the same time. I do not recommend that unless you know how to really balance everything out. So what are some different tips that will help you out when taking online classes?

Practicing Time Management

Making sure you have time to complete all of your assignments is extremely important. Sometimes finding the time to do your assignments slips your mind and you might forget to do them as they aren’t right in front of your face otherwise you might end up doing all your assignments right before midnight. So, to save yourself the pain of rushing through them, block off times throughout the week where its dedicated for you to do your online assignments, almost like you’re in class. Also, creating a study plan is super important throughout the semester so you stay on top of everything.

Creating a Workspace

If you’re spending a lot of time on your online classes, you’ll want to not only have dedicated time but also a space for working on your assignments. Whether you set up a space in your room, you go to a coffee shop, or even visit the library, having the space that you use mirror your schedule, will help your brain get going. By continuing to use the same space for online work, it makes it easier to get into a studying mode.

Communicate With Your Instructors

Don’t fall into the void! Just because you’re taking an online class doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t reach out to your instructors. If you’re struggling don’t be afraid to reach out to them if you have any questions. I think that’s a big thing that people are afraid of, reaching out. I know that when I was taking my online classes, I was so scared of reaching out to my professor as I thought I should have gotten all the information with no problems and maybe that there was something wrong with how I was absorbing the information. Don’t do that, the professor ended up making a mistake and I was too scared to say something.
