International Student Host Family Program

This International Student Host Family Program matches international students with local "host families" who help them feel welcome and settle into their new lives in the United States. International students will still live on campus. There is no extra cost to join the Host Family Program. Your host family will plan time together with you (dinner, movie, sightseeing, etc) at least a few times a semester and include you, whenever possible, in holiday and family celebrations.

What is a Host Family?
As a Host Family, you will provide a caring "home away from home" experience for students from other countries who are enrolled at Western Wyoming Community College. Each Host family befriends one or more students and builds a friendship through sharing home cooked meals, local hikes, movie nights, etc. In other words, the students do not live with the host family.

Why be a Host Family?
The primary reason international students come to the U.S. is to study; however, they face the difficulties of a new language, culture, food, values and academic pressures. As a host family, you can help ease the stress of this transition and provide additional support through camaraderie. Being a Host Family is also a great way to learn about diverse cultures.

How do I become a Host Family?
The Host Family coordinator will match students with families based on indicated preferences such as nationality, gender, age, academic major, hobbies, etc. If you would like to become a Host Family, please complete and submit the following online application:
