August 30, 2018

It's your chance to
It's your chance to audition for the Desert Dance Theatre!

Desert Dance Theatre, Western’s concert dance company, will hold auditions for associate members on Tuesday, September 11th, at 6PM in Western’s dance studio.

Associate members will perform, along with Western students currently pursuing the AA degree in Dance, in the spring dance concert, Body of Work. The company performs in styles ranging from jazz to tap to contemporary to urban dances.

The audition will be formatted like a dance class; participants should come prepared to learn warmups, traveling combinations, and short pieces of choreography. Dancers should wear dance attire and bring all available dance shoes. In order to audition, dancers must be 17 years old by March 1, 2019 (proof of age may be required).

“We look forward to continuing to build our dance program’s relationship with the community. Adult dancers with some experience, no matter how recent, are welcome to come to the audition, meet the current dance majors, and learn more about Dance at Western. We celebrate diversity and honor individual strengths with choreography that is thought-provoking and entertaining for our Sweetwater County audiences,” said Rebecca Mayer, Assistant Professor of Dance and Artistic Director of Desert Dance Theatre at Western.
