Western Kicks Off the New School Year with Welcome Week

During last year's Welcome Week students got to check out the eclipse!

Western Wyoming Community College hosts Welcome Week August 25th – 31st. Welcome Week is an opportunity for new students to participate in events and activities to help them meet other students and faculty, as well as familiarize themselves with campus. There will also be a reception for parents on the 25th.  

“Welcome Week provides our students with an excellent opportunity to connect with the campus, employees, and other students before and after classes begin.  These vital connections are made through multiple free events for students that include BBQ’s, concerts, dances, river rafting, orientation, Mustang athletics, and many others.  We are very excited to kick off a new year and look forward to connecting with our students through our Welcome Week events,” said Dustin Conover, Interim Dean of Students at Western.

The schedule for Welcome Week is as follows:

Saturday, August 25:

7:30AM-2PM – Housing Check-in, Mustang Central

1:30-2:30PM -  Parent Reception, 1302

6PM – Free BBQ Dinner, grass outside Mitchell’s

8-9PM – Mandatory Resident Hall Floor Meetings

9PM-12AM – Welcome Dance, Windriver Commons

Sunday, August 26:

1-3PM Slip N’ Slide Kickball, grass near Circle Drive

8-9PM – Mandatory Orientation, Theater

9PM – Movie Premier: “Solo”, Theater

Monday, August 27:

11:30AM-1:30PM – Free Picnic, grass outside Mitchell’s

9PM-12AM – Glow in the Dark Foam Party, grass near Circle Drive

Tuesday, August 28:

8AM-5PM – Kick Off Orientation, Theater (bring Student ID to win prizes)

7PM – Volleyball, Rushmore Gym

After Game Pool Party

Wednesday, August 29:

Classes Start

7:30PM-9:30PM – Lola-no-booza, concert, food and more, grass by Mitchell’s

Thursday, August 30:

9PM-12PM – Laser Tag – Atrium

Friday, August 31:

7PM Movie Premier: “Avengers Infinity War”, Theater

8AM-9PM – White Water Rafting Trip and Pizza, sign up in Mustang Central prior to 8/31, $10 fee
