Wyoming rocks, and the Geology Department at Western Wyoming Community College plans to highlight that fact at its Geology Expo on the Rock Springs campus Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the College Atrium.
The Expo is intended to promote knowledge and appreciation of Southwest Wyoming’s fascinating rock structures and geological formations and history. Proceeds from the sale of rocks, minerals, fossils, and geological maps will support student travel to the Western Social Science Association Conference in San Francisco this academic year. There will be a student bake sale at the Expo, and local rock and jewelry vendors will have tables at the event.
Western Professor Emeritus Charlie Love will also be present to discuss private geology tours of Southwest Wyoming, which he personally leads in collaboration with local tour operator The Wild Calls.
The Geology Expo is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Associate Professor of Anthropology and Geology Dana L. Pertermann, Ph.D. at (307) 382-1743 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
