The Rock Springs campus is open today.

ROCK SPRINGS – Classes will resume on their normal schedule at Western Wyoming Community College today.

The Mustang women's and men's basketball games that were scheduled for Jan. 13 in Rushmore Gymnasium will take place today at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. The Mustangs host Casper College.

Western had cancelled its afternoon and evening classes on Wednesday, Jan. 13, following a power outage at the campus. The Rock Springs facility had been evacuated shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday after smoke from transformers in the basement triggered the fire alarm. The transformers are believed to have overheated due to a reduction in the electrical grid's power supply.

As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, power had been restored to most areas of the Rock Springs campus.
