Green River Center to offer three daytime General Education classes next fall

May 04, 2015

The Green River Cent
The Green River Center will host daytime General Education classes in Fall 2015

ROCK SPRINGS – Students in Green River who would like to take a few college classes closer to home next fall will have three morning courses to choose from at the Green River Center.

The Fall 2015 schedule includes Computer Information Systems (COSC 1200 G1), Introduction to Public Speaking (COMM 1010 G1), and English Composition I (English 1010 G1), all of which will convene on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The CIS class meets from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.; the Speech class meets from 10 – 11:15 a.m.; and the Composition class meets from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

The daytime class offerings complement existing evening offerings at the GRC, which include two block sections of English Composition I, one of which meets from 6 – 8:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday through Oct. 14 and another that meets during the same time on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 15. There will also be two evening block sections of Introduction to Speech, one of which meets from 6:15 – 8:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday from Oct. 19 – Dec. 9, and another that meets during the same time period on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 18 – Dec. 8.

All of these classes meet General Education requirements for graduation, and many students take them during their first year of coursework. The expanded GRC class offerings are an outgrowth of Western’s commitment to using its Green River facility for a greater variety of academic courses in addition to the many workforce-development classes that are held there.
