Student United Way partners with Prevention Management Organization to provide QPR suicide-prevention training this week

Learn how to prevent suicide and bring hope to people in crisis, this week at Western.

The Student United Way of Southwest Wyoming has partnered with the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming to provide a QPR training series for anyone who would like to learn how to recognize the warning signs that someone is in suicide crisis, and how to Question, Persuade and Refer someone to seek help. 

The free training sessions will be offered on Tuesday, April 28, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Wednesday, April 29, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., and on Thursday, April 30, at 3 p.m. All sessions will take place in Room 1302 on the Rock Springs campus.

Class sizes are limited to 35 people per class and are open to students, faculty and community members. Register via email to, or register on one of the sign-up sheets that are posted around campus.

The Student United Way of Southwest Wyoming is pleased to partner with the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming to bring awareness to the issue of suicide in Sweetwater County and throughout the nation, and to prepare caring individuals to serve as ambassadors of hope who can make a difference in someone's life by communicating with them openly and positively about the value and importance their life has to others and for themselves.
