Adult Learner

At Western, we take pride in meeting the needs of all types of learners. Whether you're returning to college to finish a degree, learning a technical skill, or attending college for the very first time, Western is here to support your goals.

Western offers 63 degree programs and 42 certificates so you can follow your passions, achieve your career goals, and secure employment.

Wyoming Works

To meet the needs of non-traditional students, the state of Wyoming launched a grant program, Wyoming Works, to help adult learners pay for college. Wyoming allocated $5 million to support the program; $3 million of which will be used for individual student grants. Western has a number of programs that qualify for the Wyoming Works grant.

Children's Center

Western knows many of our non-traditional students are also parents. The Children's Center on campus makes it easier for parents to attend classes while their children are well-cared for and close by. Western was the first college in Wyoming to establish a child care center on campus, knowing it was vital to our student-parents success.

Online Classes

For those students who cannot attend class on campus, many online courses are offered so it’s possible to obtain a degree or certificate while continuing your employment. Smaller classes along with faculty and staff who care make Western the perfect choice. Help with some classes is available through the Peer Tutoring Center.

Western was named the most affordable college in Wyoming, and the third best community college in the nation. We are committed to making higher education accessible to adult learners.
